01 / The operating problem

Important financial decisions are often spread across accounts, timelines, estimates, and invisible assumptions. A polished recommendation can hide more than it explains.

Northstar puts assumptions beside outcomes so a person can test a scenario, see what changed, and retain responsibility for the decision.

02 / The product system

What the product direction brings together.

  1. 01

    Deterministic household models

  2. 02

    Editable assumptions and versioned scenarios

  3. 03

Optional AI interpretation separated from calculation

  4. 04

Read-only planning with live trading disabled

03 / Inside the product

Workflows, controls, and product decisions.

This is the documented product direction and available build evidence—not a generic category promise.

01

Decision-first planning

The experience begins with a concrete household choice—such as a home purchase—then keeps goal, horizon, cash flows, constraints, and uncertainty visible.

02

Deterministic modeling

Financial calculations run independently from AI, so the same assumptions reproduce the same output and the model remains useful without a database or model-provider key.

03

Auditable scenarios

Inputs, data provenance, model versions, calculated outputs, and the person's decisions are retained as separate evidence rather than flattened into one recommendation.

04

Optional interpretation

AI can help explain a result, but it cannot alter the underlying calculation or hide which statements came from the deterministic model.

05

Regulatory boundary

Portfolio ideas begin as dated, read-only research with editable assumptions. Trading is intentionally disabled and any future order entry requires a separate compliance design.

04 / Guided workflow

Follow the product through the work.

The screen above is an illustrative concept interface. This walkthrough explains the intended workflow and its decision boundary without claiming a working release.

Name the decision

Start with the household choice, timeline, and constraints that matter.

  1. Name the decisionStart with the household choice, timeline, and constraints that matter.
  2. Expose assumptionsIncome, costs, growth, and uncertainty remain visible and editable.
  3. Compare scenariosSee how a changed assumption reshapes the path over time.
  4. Decide deliberatelyThe product supports interpretation; it does not make the decision.

05 / Next validation

A concept needs evidence before it becomes a product.

Prove that households can understand how a changed assumption alters a long-range scenario without mistaking planning for advice.

06 / The boundary

Useful software should be clear about what it will not do.
